Rock dominates but shake up at top iminent

Beyond Radio Tim’s Top 150, Dec. 10 2017

Rock dominates but there is an imminent shake up to the top 10. After 2 weeks at the top Canada’s Alert The Medic relinquish the #1 position to The UK’s Virginmarys. Both driving and melodic rockers. I thought The Night Game and Mika were sure #1’s but there is activity down the chart that may alter that trajectory. Brandi Carlile jumps 27 positions to #22 with “The Joke”, the newly discovered song from Twenty One Pilots surge 120-46 with “Not Today” and my boys Hanson move their Christmas song “Finally It’s Christmas” 112-50. All 3 will likely bound into the top 10 next week.

2 former #1’s “”The Wanting” by J. Roddy Walston and “At The End Of The Earth”by The Dear Hunter whom I saw live this week remain strong 5 months in, both still in the top 15.

I was late to the game on Charlie Puth’s slinky “Attention” which moves up to #11. It is one of the best Pop radio songs of the year, which for me has been abysmal overall. Another nice addition to the Pop top 25 is “Best Friend” by Sofi Tukker, moving up to #56.

The highest debut belongs to the gorgeous cover of Dan Fogelberg’s “Nether Lands” by the late Donna Summer. It is very faithful to the original but so great to hear after so many years.
