The year of the Dear Hunter

Beyond Radio Tim’s Top 150, Oct. 8 2017
It has been just over a year since The Dear Hunter debuted on my top 150 with “The Revival” (Sept. 25, 2016). In the past year they have had 11 songs reach my top 15 including 4 #1’s (and a 5th next week).

After that the next #1 is likely to be “Happy Dance” by MercyMe which is making a quick ascent, up 45-14 this week. That would make 6 #1’s since 2004, the first being the amazing “Here With Me”. That could keep potential #1’s from Nothing But Thieves, Third Day, J. Roddy Walston and Beck at bay.

Another classic rock band, Foreigner, joins Night Ranger in the upper reaches of my chart. They had the song “The Fame Still Burns” on my top 150 for 22 weeks, peaking at #71. In its 5th week “Give My Life For Love” is already up to #25 and destined for the top 10. Guess I’m having a nostalgia period. The 3rd Night Ranger song to hit my top 150 this year, “Running Out Of Time” debuts this week at #120.

The top debut is the very catchy “Show Me The Science” by The Blizzards. This is my first exposure to the decade old Irish band who reached #2 on the Irish singles chart in 2008 with “Trust Me, I’m A Doctor”.
