Twenty One Pilots ruled the month of January and that should continue into February with the phenomenal “Not Today”. One of the best pop songs I’ve heard in a long time. It also has had me delve into “Blurryface” which I did not do when it was ubiquitous in 2015/16. “The Judge” moves into the top 100 at #87 and “Hometown” should make a splash in the coming weeks.
Another older song moves up to #2 this week, Mary Go Round” by the Struts. The UK retor glam act have had 2 #1’s including the 5 week reign of “Dirty Sexy Money” my #2 song of 2016. This makes the 4th song from their debut to reach my top 5. The current single “One Night Only” has been making slow and steady progress on my chart, this week at #27 in its 22nd week in the top 150.
Soap, a new band band formed by the ex-leader of Hard-Fi, move from 30-16 with “Golden Days. The former band had 14 songs reach my personal between 2005-12 including 2 #1’s “I Shall Overcome” and “Little Angel”.
The Partridge Family see 2 songs enter my top 25 this week, the reason will become evident in the coming weeks. Both of these were big for me in my formative years but were out before I started doing a personal chart. It’s nice to have them in my consciousness again.
