Beyond Radio is the place where music discovery and music nostalgia collide. It is your one-stop source for playlists, music charts, remembrances and recommendations. Our Podcast and music therapy playlists combine elements of nostalgia and discovery, while my blog entries reflect on our musical past through the lens of my personal charts from decades past. I weave a story that includes the connection between artists, chart facts and personal anecdotes that hopefully conjure a connection to the soundtrack of your own life. The current charts and playlists are updated monthly or bi-monthly (bi-weekly for the BR250) and are curated based on a passionate audience that produce their own personal charts weekly.
Beyond Radio’s Personal Chart Adds Top 100, January 18 (tracking week ending Jan. 15)
The top 2 this week follow up strong weeks last time out. Fleur East, back after 4 years, moves 17-1 with a strong 19 adds for “Favourite Thing”. Not as immediately catchy as “Sax” but nice to see an impressive return. At #2, spending a second week in the top 10 is Post Malone’s latest offering “Wow”. He is the first artist in 2019 to have 2 songs reach the adds top 10, and both were in the first week.
The Backstreet Boys keep the comeback going with a third song, “No Place”, getting strong adds out of the box. In fact most of the top 10 features songs in their initial few weeks out. Including Chris Brown (#3), Walk The Moon (#6), Catfish and the Bottlemen (#5), Chemical Brothers (#9) and Lizzo (#7). Speaking of Lizzo it’s nice to see the indie Rapper/R&B artist come out with a fun song, something that seems to be severely lacking in the big hit department.
Muse return to the top 10 for a third time since this chart’s inaugural week. It was #8 on Oct. 28, #5 on Dec. 9 and #8 again this week. “Pressure” has shown up on 43 charts since its’ debut 4 months ago. The song with the most adds since the charts debut is “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart”, adding 4 more this week putting it at 99 total.
Most of last week’s top 10 remain in the top 40 this week with only ‘Thank You, Next” and “Ruin My Life” dropping out, both actually receiving no adds in the tracking period. The nature of this chart is that some weeks song drop off completely only to have a surge weeks later.

The weekly Genres Adds charts are based on the past 4 week trend in each genre. There you can also connect to all the latest Genre playlists on Spotify, featuring the newest songs showing up on Personal charts and on Radio airplay lists.
