The Weeknd sees 2 songs in the trending top 10, “Blinding Lights” at #1 and “Heartless” at #10 along with Harry Styles at #’s 5 and 6 with “Watermelon Sugar” and “Adore You”. His album “Fine Line” was released last Friday. Alanis Morissette is back after 7 years with the confessional single “Reasons I Drink” from an upcoming album scheduled for release in May 2020. Also making a splash in the top 10 is a Christmas new song from Taylor Swift “Christmas Tree Farm”.
In positions 11-13 are 3 remakes. A faithful cover of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” by Sam Smith, Bastille with the London Contemporary Orchestra taking on the REO Speedwagon classic “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and the second remake of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” this year, this one by Evanescence (Yes they are still around).
At #20 is this week’s Billboard Hot 100 #1 song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. Released 25 years ago, you might be surprised to know this is the 1st time the song has reached top #1 position on the Hot 100. Weird stuff. See the full top 100 via the link.
