One of the other playlist trends that are becoming a regular addition to the site are a look back at my personal charts in previous years. Last month I introduced a list from 1979 and today it is for this week in 1989.

What I have been doing the last few years is looking back 10, 20, 30 etc. years, kind of a way to see how my opinion of songs has changed over the years. Which ones are obsolete and which ones have surged.

I will rotate a new playlist near the end of each month. Next month will be 1999 and so on.

 

This list sees some of my favorites of that year. A year where the Indigo Girls and Melissa Etheridge debuted, and big albums in my life by Erasure, The Cure, Tears For Fears and Simple Minds. And of course the B-52’s comeback “Love Shack”.
