Beyond Radio is the place where music discovery and music nostalgia collide. It is your one-stop source for playlists, music charts, remembrances and recommendations. Our Podcast and music therapy playlists combine elements of nostalgia and discovery, while my blog entries reflect on our musical past through the lens of my personal charts from decades past. I weave a story that includes the connection between artists, chart facts and personal anecdotes that hopefully conjure a connection to the soundtrack of your own life. The current charts and playlists are updated monthly or bi-monthly (bi-weekly for the BR250) and are curated based on a passionate audience that produce their own personal charts weekly.
After 10 weeks in the runner-up position Bruno Mars conjures up the magic to reach #1. Next week may see some shaking up with 5 of the top 10 losing points although ’24K Magic’ could sustain a second week in the top spot if Adele or The Weeknd don’t have enough forward movement. “Rockabye” should see an aboutface in the top 10 with U.S. airplay increasing, currently in the pop airplay top 25. Of course Zayn & Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran could be threats within the next 2 weeks.
Of Sheeran’s 2 top 100 debuts I prefer less poppy, more folky “Castle On The Hill” which both both musically and lyrically moving. Contender for song of the year Grammy 2018, perhaps.
Fellow Brits Little Mix move 94-27 with the second single, “Touch” from their current album. IMO better than ‘Shout Out’ although my fav so far is “You Gotta Not”.
