75 weeks and counting

Gee only a week behind 🙂 with the commentary. Calvin Harris remains at #1 for a third week as Kesha moves up to #2 and Pink blasts into the top 10 from #193. There are nineteen new entries in the top 100, with Nothing But Thieves with the second highest entry at #40. Of course Taylor Swift, in at #58, should see a huge surge on the next chart, possibly leaping to #1.

The most notable new entry is at #91 where the Revivalists enter the top 100 for the first time with “Wish I Knew You”, 75 weeks after its first activity at Beyond Radio, and fully 2 years after the album it is pulled from was released. It is in its 34th week in the top 250 and has been in and out of it a number of times as it has impacted different genres over the course of its run. From AAA to Alternative, then Rock, Hot AC, AC and now the Pop radio top 50.

With two more entries into the top 250, “Pain” at #109 and “Strangest Thing” at #114 give The War On Drugs four titles on the current chart. The Philadelphia roots rock band’s 4th album since 2008 just debuted on the Billboard 200 at #10 and the single “Holding On” is currently #3 on the AAA radio chart. The band, heavily influenced by Bob Dylan and originally formed by lead singer Adam Granduciel and Kurt Vile who has gone on to a solo career is heavily influenced by Bob Dylan, while the 4th song in the top 250, the epic “Thinking Of A Place” reminds me of Dire Straits.
