Some major moves on the BR250 this week beginning with The Weeknd who moves 18-4 in his third week. He has the most adds this week (29) and is currently on the most overall charts (64). That bodes well for reaching #1. Only about 500 points separate #1 from #4 and “Heathens” lost almost 350 points this week so a new #1 is possible next week. We’ll see if it can be “Starboy” or “Closer”.
There are 3 impressive jumps into the top 25 with Calvin Harris leading the way 65-16 in its 5th week. Also in its 5th week Emeli Sande’s “Hurts” jumps 53-20. The surprise jump into the top 25 is “Forever Country”, up 47-25, IMO kind of a weak all star effort. Also moving into the top 25 is Eric Church with his 3rd single from the album “Mr. Misunderstood” “Kill A “Word”. He’s peaked at #22 with the title song and #27 with “Record Year” so he could make a run for the top 20 with this one.
The highest top 100 debut belongs to Bruno Mars, entering at #41 on 20 adds, moving up from #514. Other top 100 debuts include “Meteorite” by Years & Years (#45), “Square Hammer” by Ghost (#50), Fifth Harmony’s “That’s My Girl” (#65), Knaye’s “Fade (#67) and 1d’s Niall Horan at #68 with “This Town”. 8 other titles enter between 80-100. With the late week release on Maroon 5’s “Don’t Wanna Know” (only 3 adds) I expect next week could be another superstar big move into the top 100. Welcome to the fall season.
