Beyond Radio is the place where music discovery and music nostalgia collide. It is your one-stop source for playlists, music charts, remembrances and recommendations. Our Podcast and music therapy playlists combine elements of nostalgia and discovery, while my blog entries reflect on our musical past through the lens of my personal charts from decades past. I weave a story that includes the connection between artists, chart facts and personal anecdotes that hopefully conjure a connection to the soundtrack of your own life. The current charts and playlists are updated monthly or bi-monthly (bi-weekly for the BR250) and are curated based on a passionate audience that produce their own personal charts weekly.
Taylor Swift makes a quick move into the top spot, assisted by Panic At The Disco’s Brandon Urie on “Me!”. The pure pop track has the earmarks of both artists as they co-wrote the track.
Don’t panic as Queen Madonna doesn’t move far, only pushed down to #2 on the strength of 12 new adds.
4 songs from last week’s top 10 remain while 4 new titles join them. In at #3 Kygo and Rita Ora bring us the soundtrack song “Carry On” from the new Pokemon movie. With an assist from Katy Perry on a remix, Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma” (which also features Snow and borrows from his hit “Informer”) moves 153-7 and Lil Dicky is assisted by a myriad of artists on his new (tongue in cheek?) single “Earth”, up 136-8. In all there are 13 collaborations in the top 20.
New at #10 is the latest track from Florence & The Machine “Jenny Of Oldstones (Game Of Thrones)” which is on the album “Music Inspired by the Series Game Of Thrones”. That album also features the song right behind it at #11 “Power Is Power” by SZA, The Weeknd and Travis Scott. It also includes songs by Maren Morris, Mumford & Sons, James Arthur and more.
An interesting note: Lizzo moves back into the top 40 for a 9th week with “Juice”. It debuted the 1st week of January on this chart and has 72 total adds so far, placing it as the 15th most added song since the chart debuted at the end of October. Only 2 songs have had more than 100 adds, Sweet But Psycho” with 110 and “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” with 119.
