Beyond Radio is the place where music discovery and music nostalgia collide. It is your one-stop source for playlists, music charts, remembrances and recommendations. Our Podcast and music therapy playlists combine elements of nostalgia and discovery, while my blog entries reflect on our musical past through the lens of my personal charts from decades past. I weave a story that includes the connection between artists, chart facts and personal anecdotes that hopefully conjure a connection to the soundtrack of your own life. The current charts and playlists are updated monthly or bi-monthly (bi-weekly for the BR250) and are curated based on a passionate audience that produce their own personal charts weekly.
It was a battle of collaborations vying for the top 3 spots this week. In the end Sam Smith and Normani lead the pack with “Dancing With A Stranger” on 32 adds and 400 more points than Calvin Harris and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man with “Giant” (28 adds this week. Gessaffelstein & The Weeknd round out the top 3 with “Lost In The Fire”.
Catfish and the Bottlemen remain in the top 5, putting them at #1 on the 4 week trending Alt adds chart. Westlife reach the summit on the AC adds list on a strong week, helping them to the #5 position this week. Bring Me The Horizon’s very poppy “Medicine” sits atop the Rock adds chart, remaining at #12 for the second week.
The top 8 all had double digit adds with The Cranberries “All Over Now” leading the 1st week entries at #6. Ariana Grande managed a top 10 placement with the late week debut of “7 Rings” on 8 charts. The 3rd highest, Maren Morris is looking at another big country hit with “Girl”.
I’m digging the new duet between James Morrison and Joss Stone “My Love Goes On” (#17). Hope it gets some love on HotAC. On the opposite end of the spectrum “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” eludes me. In it’s 8th week it jumps back into the top 20 at #16 and now has reached 104 total charts, more than any other song. I have heard it enough now to know it has no chance of even consideration for my personal chart.
You can listen to the top 30 plus this week on Spotify.
The weekly Genres Adds charts are based on the past 4 week trend in each genre.
