I Imagine It’s a Fine Time to be a Man from Portugal

Quiet action overall in the top 25 this week, though Portugal, The Man bring a 2nd song into the top 10 as ‘Live In The Moment” leaps 15-8. Imagine Dragons, after stalling just outside the top 25 for a month, move up 11 spots to #15 with “Whatever It Takes” while the polarizing “Thunder” also moves back into the top 20.

The best move in the upper reaches though belongs to the Wombats and “Lemon To A Knife Fight”, with a 32-18 move. The band’s most recent single before that, 2015’s “Emoticons”, was my #2 song of 2016, the first to reach my weekly top 40 after 11 tries.

Ed Sheeran, who remains at the top for a 6^th week, is also part of the highest top 100 entry on Eminem’s “River” at #43. Close behind at #46 is the return of the seminal UK outfit Manic Street Preachers with “International Blue”.

This week’s chart is the last with major holiday music impact so I thought it would be fitting to present the top 50 Holiday songs as charted from Dec. 4-Jan. 8. The top 10 is a mix of new music from Sia, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarson and Lindsey Stirling along with perennial favorites. Of course Mariah at the top is no surprise.
