Close but no cigar

Well Katy Perry and Lorde lost and gained a similar amount of points but Lorde could not seal the deal yet so Perry achieves a 5th week at the summit.

In its 4th week in the top 100 Portugal, The Man move 27-18 with the song “Feel It Still”. The Alaskan band is seeing its biggest success after over 10 years since their debut. The song is already a top 5 AAA and top 15 Alternative airplay song.

Keith Urban also enters the top 25 with “The Fighter”, securing back to back singles reaching that threshold and 5 consecutive top 40 singles starting with “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” in Sept. 2015.. It should easily surpass the #23 peak of “Blue Ain’t Your Color” as it is gaining Hot AC airplay and is still growing at Country radio.

Alternative songs have a great week in the top 100 as new titles enter the top 100, including Kasabian (118-42), The Amazons (126-63), Spoon (131-70), Weezer (160-77), Dreamcar (184-95  and The Bleachers who have the most added song of the week, “Don’t Take My Money” and surge 480-69.

After a 5 year hiatus, 4 out of 5 new comeback singles from cartoon band Gorillaz are now in the top 250 at #123, #125, #153 and #229. They preview the album, the snidely titled “Humanz” on April 28.
